Habeas Corpus

Solicitors and Lawyers can issue Court Proceedings in the High Court for an Order that the clients must be released from Custody.  Solicitors and use this procedure where there the clients are detained unlawfully.  

Hearsay Evidence

Evidence from a Witness of facts he was not privy to but heard or read somewhere.  Solicitors and Lawyers will often need to rely on Hearsay Evidence.  The Civil Procedure Rules govern the admissibility of such evidence and on the weight to be attached to it.  

High Court of Justice

Part of the Court System. It is organised into three divisions: 
Queens Bench Division
Chancery Division
Family Division 

Home Information Pack

The bundle of Title Deeds and supporting documents compiled by the Solicitor or Conveyancer for the Seller of a Property when the Property is marketed with an Estate Agent. 

H M Land Registry 

A government department that keeps details of the Title Deeds in England and Wales.  The Buyer's Solicitor or Conveyancer must register all purchases with the Land Registry following completion and pay the necessary fee. 

House of Lords

The highest Court in the UK. . . from here the only option for Solicitors and Lawyers is the European Court of Justice.   Order:

Housing Association 

This is usually a non-profit making organisation where the main purpose is to provide social housing.  Solicitors and Lawyers help Housing Association in a variety of transactions from Conveyancing and Property Portfolio acquisition to Company Commercial Law.    

Human Rights Act

Implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights.  The Act has far reaching implications for Solicitors and Lawyers.  It affects the interpretation of the Law,  both past and present.  It introduces rights and provides remedies.  Consult with the Solicitor at an early stage as the Act contains Limitation periods.
